Abstract

Abstarct. The evaporation rate of the molding sand moisture content is the rate at which water evaporates in the molding sand in a certain time interval. The things that affect the rate of evaporation of the molding sand moisture content are the moisture content and binder content contained in the molding sand, heating time, heating temperature, surface cross-sectional area of the molding sand, grain size and shape, humidity and air pressure. Several tests were carried out using a Rotary Shaker, Scales and Moisture Analyzer, where the test showed that the higher the water content in the molding sand, the average evaporation would increase. This is because the more water content that can be evaporated and the small heterogeneous distribution of sand occurs in the specimen so that it inhibits the evaporation process. This is because the average evaporation value tends to be constant but the time value continues to grow. Tests will be carried out to determine the average evaporation and evaporation rate on the molding sand.
