Abstract

Many mechanical engineering application need to be integrated with electrical and computer engineering through micro-controller based technology. One of the microcontroller device that are often to use is Arduino. Many applications have been developed using Arduino, especially in the field of measurement and instrumentation, and the use of Arduino needs to be explore further. Therefore, in this study we aimed to improve performance, in term of work efficiency, of water flow circuit measurement based on Arduino UNO. The flowing water will pass through the valve and will make the magnetic rotor rotate at a certain speed according to the level of flow flowing. The magnetic field contained in the rotor will give effect to the hall effect sensor and it will produce a pulse signal in the form of voltage (Pulse Width Modulator). The signal is then processed into digital data through a controller or microcontroller, which will then be sent to the LCD as a display of water discharge measurement results. The design of this tool consists of water sensors, Arduino UNO microcontrollers, LCDs, jumper cables, computers with Arduino IDE software. The purpose is to monitor the amount of water discharge used, hence water usage can be reduced.
