Abstract

Tank farm consists of several diameters of large and small tanks arranged according to the function to store fluids, and mostly flammable fluids, in the engineering and construction phase airflow distribution studies it is necessary to calculate in detail the strength of the tank, especially on storm condition and also consider the direction and rate of dispersion of the tank farm during leaking condition, this study provides an analysis of the distribution of air flow in the tank farm with eight types of layouts, each layout consisting of three large tanks with a diameter of 25.2 m and two small tanks with a diameter of 11.5 m. starting air velocity from 2m/s to velocity of 40 m/s as in storm conditions, the air flow distribution analysis is carried out using CFD, the result is that the tank will receive different air velocity loads depending on the position of the tank, where the air velocity will increase up to 50% from the sides of all tank, while the tank at the rear, gets a wind load that tends to be evenly distributed. the most even distribution of air is in layout 5, where the increase in air velocity does not exceed 20%. good airflow distribution is characterized by an increase in air velocity of no more than 20% from the initial condition, it is also necessary to consider increasing the velocity distribution of the atmospheric tank strength.
