Abstract.Metal casting is one of the manufacturing techniques where metal is melted in a smelting furnace and then poured into a mold cavity similar to the original shape of the cast product made which is then allowed to cool and solidify. Solidification shrinkage and porosity are the most common defects in casting. Porosity defects are one of the defects that often occur in metal casting workpieces. Porosity defects are caused by gas trapped in the molten metal during the metal casting process. the. One of the causes of porosity defects is the permeability is too low, which makes it difficult for the gas inside the mold to escape. To predict the location of solidification and porosity shrinkage using a casting simulation program of various kinds of software such as Procast, Magmasoft, Autocast, Solidcast, while in this practicum the Altair Inspire Cast software is used.
