Cultural Meaning at Semeru-Kahuripan-Kertanegara As An Urban Heritage in Malang City

Abstract


The Semeru-Kahuripan-Kertanegara Corridor is a main way to connect The Ijen areas and Tugu areas. The existence of the Jalan Semeru – Kahuripan – Kertanegara Corridor, which is located in the city center, makes the historical buildings and areas very vulnerable to changes due to modernization. A solution to prevent problems both related to the resilience of building functions, environmental problems such as the lack of attention to the existence of Green Open Space (RTH), sports facilities, public spaces, and the degradation of strategic areas, even though they have economic potential to encourage city growth. The method in this study is using the cultural meaning analysis to identify the existence of the heritage building on this corridor. The relut will shows that the buildings in this corridor is still make the corridor alive with urban heritage themes.
